Edit Imported Files with Autodesk Fusion - Page 3

By David Melvin, PE, TEDCF Publishing

Add New Features Using Inventor
Fusion creates and modifies solid bodies while Inventor creates parametric models containing editable features. When you add new features using Inventor you can edit them directly from Inventor.

Import a File Into Inventor
You can import any translated format like SAT, STEP, IGES, etc using the File Open command. Set the File Type window to the file format and open the file.

Edit Imported Files with Autodesk Fusion tat23-4

When you return to Autodesk Inventor from Fusion the file is ready for you to add new features, create drawings, and add to assemblies and presentations.

Why is This Important?
People all over the world work together to create new products, but they don’t all use Autodesk Inventor. So we have to import translated versions when they don’t. Using Fusion to edit their solid bodies saves a great deal of time and simplifies the process.
