Inventor Mirror Sketch Command Tricks

The Mirror Sketch command in Inventor is a very useful design tool when you are working on asymmetric profiles. Instead of drawing out the whole profile, you concentrate on half of the profile and then mirror it.

To make this command even more effective, be sure to fully constrain the original sketch. When you make changes to this half of the design, it updates the mirrored portion.

Look at the pictures below. You will see that I have designed half of a profile for a Level Frame. The first image shows the half profile. The second and third images show close-ups of the top and bottom respectively.

As you can see, there is quite a bit of detail to this sketch. So, rather than having to draw the other half, I can mirror it using the center line.
