"I have previously completed a modeling course for SolidWorks but from a different company. Having recently completed the first part and currently part way through the TEDCF course for Inventor 2015, I was of the opinion that the TEDCF courses were by far superior to the course I had previously completed for SolidWorks. Therefore I purchased the SolidWorks course from TEDCF. As expected, I have found the course to be much better defined and more in-depth than my previous course although I was surprised that more coverage of the configuration for the menus is not included in the first part as I did find configuring and positioning of the toolbars helpful from the previous course I completed. Having said this I am sure it will be covered in the next Advanced Parts section and as I have also stated I am not in anyway disappointed in this course and would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn SolidWorks."

Get the SOLIDWORKS Skills You Need!

Knowing which skills to apply is as important as knowing all about the commands. Most users understand this if they've used the trial and error method of using SolidWorks on their own. They learn what works and what doesn't work, and then they rebuild their model again.

It doesn't have to be this way. You can learn what works from our courses. In fact, we show you what doesn't work in specific cases so that you can avoid these problems. This gives you a true understanding of command procedures and effective workflow.

When you finish our courses you will have a strong understanding of how to construct models that are structurally sound. This means they won't break when you try to edit them, they won't change uncontrollably when you make a modification, and they will fit and function correctly in assemblies.

Beginners learn best practices while advanced users unlearn bad habits. If you're an advanced user you know what I'm talking about. Our courses teach the skills you need.

SOLIDWORKS Training Beyond the Commands!

Going beyond the commands is what our training is all about. You don't have to waste time trying to figure out the best and most accurate way to get your work done. We show you. It's that simple.

First we start you off with the basics while establishing a strong skill foundation to build on, and then we build on those skills, and then we build on those skills, and so on. Each step of the way you will be prepared for the next step. Anytime you don't think you're ready for the next step you can review.

We offer support, but we rarely receive support questions. The reason for this is our courses are very detailed and thorough. We've taken the time to assure you will not be left in the dark wondering what the next step is. Each step is clearly described and you will see all the steps.

Once you have a few lessons under your belt we provide previously constructed models and assemblies for advanced topics. So these are models and assemblies you would already know how to create. We quickly show you how there were created and then move directly into the advanced topic. So we consider your knowledge base for each lesson. This assures you will never be left in the dark.

Professional Modeling

The SolidWorks 2015: Professional Modeling covers all the modeling commands commonly used in a professional environment. You'll learn how to quickly create bulletproof models in the shortest time possible, and you'll learn tips and techniques that will assure your models can easily be edited. Beginner and advanced users should start with this course because it provides founding concepts for advanced operations and procedures discussed in later courses.

It starts by showing you how sketches are used to create features. You'll get a tour of the user interface. Practice working with implied and automatic relations while making contours in your sketches. Contours, also known as profiles, are used to create 3D features. While these are basic concepts the course quickly builds to an advanced level showing each step.

Throughout the course you'll work on a part template that becomes the cornerstone for all the template settings you'll learn. As your knowledge of SolidWorks becomes more advanced so does your custom part template. You'll also start with simple feature commands and work your way to the most advanced commands while progressively building your skills.

For example, the Sweep command is relatively easy to understand. You create a closed profile and sweep it along a path. As you learn more about the Sweep command you'll be able to control the size and shape of the profile as it sweeps along the path. You'll also learn common mistakes and solutions to problems when working with the Sweep command, and you'll learn best practices with every step. Every command listed in the list of lessons is covered with complete detail designed to assure your success.

Advanced Parts & Assemblies

The SolidWorks 2015: Advanced Parts & Assemblies course is the second course in the series. It's designed to expand your part modeling skills and establish a strong assembly design and construction practice. You will learn all the details of creating and using configurations, using Excel worksheets to generate parts, creating Weldments and frames, multi-body modeling, and much more.

One of the benefits of working with 3D models is your ability to show your work to others and have them understand what you're doing. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. With SolidWorks you can not only show them 3D models you can make them look real or at least close to real. You do this by customizing materials, which is how the Advanced Parts and Assemblies course starts. You'll learn how to customize materials and appearances, and if you turn on RealView they can look like the real thing.

You can also make threads look like real threads. A standard thread in SolidWorks is simply an image that looks similar to threads, but this course shows you how to make 3D threads that match real world specifications. It's simple, and once you've done it you'll be able to quickly create 3D threads of any size.

This course covers several methods of creating multiple parts within a single part file. You can use Design Tables to generator several different models within a single file. You can create different Configurations in a single part file, and you can use Multi-body Modeling to create parts in a single part file. Each method has its strengths and weaknesses, but this course shows you how to leverage the power of each one.

You'll practice using all the basic and advanced assembly mates. You'll practice working with weldments and adding weld beads, gussets, and end caps, and you'll practice creating frames. You'll create custom frame member shapes like square tubing, and you'll apply end treatments that make your frame members fit together.

This course is packed with best practices, tips, and tricks to assure your models and assemblies are robust, easy to edit, and structurally sound.

Mechanical Drawings

Learn how to create professional mechanical drawings from the components and assemblies constructed in the first two courses. The SolidWorks 2015: Mechanical Drawings course covers all the commands associated with 2D drawings in detail. Your custom title blocks will automatically fill custom title block fields. Revision tables you customize will automatically snap in place when you create a new drawing. You'll control the color and line weight of everything on your drawings and so much more. This course is packed with everything you need to make professional mechanical drawings.

The course starts by showing you the standard methods of creating drawings and views. You'll see the Drawing Number field in the title block automatically fill in with the filename of the part. Once that's done you're on your way to expanding this concept to your own custom title blocks.

You will practice adding custom title block fields that populate with part properties. You'll create your own custom properties and apply them. You'll learn how links and title block fields work, and you'll practice using the Property Tab Builder to create custom property tabs. Property tabs are used to add additional information to title blocks. So this is a helpful skill to master.

This course shows you all the steps required to create custom drawing templates for any size drawing. You'll practice using all the view types and learn best practices that put them in your control. Your custom sheet formats and layers will control the look, color, and weight of everything on your drawings, and you will know how to streamline the drafting process.

It's packed with tips and tricks that assure you are using the fastest method of creating mechanical drawings. Your drawings will be completely defined to meet your needs, and you will learn best practices and sound procedures to assure the accuracy of your work.

Sheet Metal Design

Learn how to create professional sheet metal parts and assemblies while you explore best practice techniques and learn all the commands. The SolidWorks 2015: Sheet Metal Design course is loaded with all the details required to accurately and successfully create bulletproof sheet metal parts and assemblies.

While many users struggle with creating sheet metal models that unfold correctly and match real world fabrication, you'll know what to do. The key is to understand sheet metal settings. The commands are pretty intuitive, but matching your fabrication operation with the commands requires a clear understanding of sheet metal settings. This course uses simple to understand explanations of how the settings work.

It explains how to apply best practices to all the sheet metal commands and gives you a detailed description of how each setting works. You'll learn what to do and what not to do. Each step of the way you'll build a strong foundation of skills that will make you a successful modeler.

The course even comes with a K-Factor calculator that will calculate bend allowances, bend deductions, setbacks, and K-Factors. You'll also learn how to work with multi-body sheet metal parts to quickly and accurately create sheet metal assemblies. Tired of setting sheet metal settings? This course shows you how to create sheet metal templates that streamline the process.

Even if you don't make sheet metal parts, this course is a must see. Many of the advanced concepts taught in the course can be applied to standard parts. So be sure to include this course with your purchase. This course has over 3.9 hours of instruction.

FEA Made Simple

Learn how to test the stress of your parts, and discover best practices for using FEA in SolidWorks Premium. There are many advanced concepts taught in the SolidWorks 2015: FEA Made Simple course. So it's important to have a strong foundation of skills in SolidWorks 2015 when you begin. The course has over 4.3 hours of instruction that shows you practical ways of working with SolidWorks FEA. So you'll be able to use it as a tool instead of a mysterious question mark.

The course starts by showing you how to setup a basic static simulation. You'll setup the settings that control the simulation, see the effect of changing settings, and practice changing the output settings. The goal here is to give you a complete understanding of the FEA user interface and the settings that drive it.

As you continue through the course you'll learn how to apply sensors to your model and examine the physical characteristics of you model at a specific location. You'll learn about shear and normal stresses and how to use Mohr's circle to analyze these stresses. This clears the path for an easy to understand description of principal stresses. All the stresses displayed by your sensor will be clearly described and easy to understand.

Once you have all the basic stresses and strain under your belt it will be easy to understand Von Mises Stress. Von Mises Stress is the default stress in stress reports, but you need to understand it to know if it's the stress you should use. Von Mises Stress can also be misleading. So if you do use Von Mises Stress you need to truly understand it. This course explains Von Mises Stress in detail, and makes it easy to understand.

It also shows you how to do simple hand calculations to confirm the accuracy of studies. It doesn't use heavy mathematics. It shows simple tips and tricks to confirm the results make sense. You will learn how to let the computer do all the heavy lifting. All you need to do is confirm the results are close to your estimations. You'll know how it's done and it will be easy to apply.

The course explains the details about mesh elements, how they work, and the difference between mesh types. It also explains which mesh type corresponds to a specific study type. You'll also learn how to analyze trusses and calculate their stresses. This course is packed with tips and tricks to simplify FEA and leverage its power.

You'll also gain an intuitive approach to setting up your studies. For example you'll learn that it makes sense for stresses to rise in sharp corners. You'll know how to increase mesh density in these areas and you'll know why you need to do this.

By the time you finish this course you will be confident about your ability to use FEA.
