How to Turn Off SolidWorks Selection Filters - Page 3

By David Melvin, PE, TEDCF Publishing

There are several ways filters can be turned on, but the most common way is shortcut keys. The E, V, and X keys are used to turn on and off the following filters.

E – Filter Edges
V – Filter Vertices
X – Filter Faces

If you type these keys you will turn on a filter. To turn them, off type the key again.

Why would I use filters?
Filters are helpful when you need to select features that are hard to select. For example, you might be having a difficult time selecting an edge because the adjacent faces keep highlighting. Type the E key, and now you can only select edges. Once you’ve selected the edge, type the E key again to turn off the filter.
