| Component has no surfaces in Autodesk Inventor? |
| By David Melvin, PE, TEDCF Publishing |
You’ve imported a file that needs surface modifications, but when you try to issue standard surfacing commands you get the following warning: |
 |
| |
Stitch the Surfaces |
| The fastest way to fix this problem is to stitch the surfaces. Click the Stitch Surfaces command. |
| |
 |
| |
This opens the Stitch dialog box. |
| |

|
| |
Select all the surfaces on the part, and then click Apply. Click the Done button to close the dialog box.
Now you should be able to apply surface commands to the part. |
Why is this important? |
When you get the message saying, ’the component has no surfaces’ it is difficult to know what the next step is. Now that you know you can stitch the surfaces together to solve the problem you can get your work done. |
